I meant to run this update last week, but I ended up being so busy that time got away from me. In the last week and a half, I’ve had several things published. One of them is my essay in the fall issue of Tin House!

Another publication that really blew up was this essay on Medium: “Please Stop Telling Poor People to Leave Town.” I wrote it in response to the huge number of elitist, judgemental people screaming on Twitter for South Carolinians to “Get out while you still can!” Unfortunately, they just don’t know what they’re talking about. My other publications this week include Real Simple, The Cut, and Book Riot:

If you missed it, check out the first installment of my blog series Electric Sheep. It’s a chronicle of searching for my erstwhile famous neurosurgeon grandfather’s story, and it’s kind of like the Spark Notes/soon-to-be podcast version of the nonfiction book I’m writing.

That’s going slowly though, because I have to keep the lights on by writing other things. If I can get only a fraction of my followers to contribute just a dollar each, I can focus on finishing the book.

Help me out by contributing to my Patreon or buying me a Ko-Fi.

Some cool books out this week include:
